Dental Implant Solutions

Dental implants offer a contemporary solution for missing teeth, typically crafted from Titanium or Titanium alloy with coatings for enhanced stability and bone integration. Commonly, screw-like structures replace tooth roots, onto which crowns or teeth can be affixed permanently or in a removable fashion. Options include Dental Implant Bridges, Crowns, and Dentures.

As a trusted Sunshine Coast dentist, we customize dental implant solutions to individual needs, primarily utilizing the mentioned implant systems. So, get in touch to learn about the cost of dental implants in Sunshine Coast, full mouth dental implants, and more.

Am I a candidate for a dental implant in Sunshine Coast?

A dental implant requires a good foundation. The perfect candidate for dental implants should have overall good health. In other words, there should be no signs of gum disease or decay. An oral and medical assessment will be conducted before beginning the treatment.
However, a small proportion of patients may not be able to receive dental implants. Here are some reasons why patients may not be eligible for an implant:

Bone Volume Loss

If a patient has lost significant bone volume from missing teeth or disease, there may not be sufficient bone to hold a dental implant.

Current Medication

Consult your surgeon before taking any medication to understand its risks and side effects. Discuss all details of the dental implant procedure beforehand.

Periodontal disease/gum disease

Periodontal (gum) disease is a leading cause of tooth loss in adults. Gum treatment is required before getting a dental implant.

Existing medical conditions

Diabetes, psychiatric disorders, and alcoholism may prevent some patients from being able to receive dental implants.

What Are Root Form Dental Implants?

Root form dental implants are the most popular and affordable dental implants throughout the world. Although they were not the first to be used in North America, the root form of dental implants now compose the majority of all dental implant treatments. These types of dental implants are made to resemble the root of a tooth and come in a cylinder shape dental implant, a straight screw shape dental implant or a conical screw shape dental implant.

This dental implant refers specifically to the root area. In a single-tooth situation, there are two primary ways a tooth can be attached to the implant:

  • Cemented method – A middle structure is screwed onto the implant using a smaller screw, and the crown is then cemented onto this structure.
  • Screw-retained method – The crown is directly screwed onto the implant through the crown itself.

Dental Implant Treatment Options

Different types of full-mouth dental implants may use anywhere from 2 to 6 dental implants to support a full arch of teeth. The types of dental implants include:

  • The All-On-4 Full Dental Implants: These implants use two straight and two angled implants to support the dental crowns. The procedure is completed by attaching the replacement teeth to the implants.
  • The All-On-Six Dental Implants: These implants help provide a firmer bite and support. However, they are not suitable for patients with limited bone structure.
  • Zirconia Bridges: The Zirconia Bridges use six to eight dental implants to support replacement teeth and are considered one of the most reliable options.
  • Full-Implants No-Denture: This is a less common and more expensive option that requires enough gum and bone structure to support one implant per tooth. A teeth bridge with no gum stimulation is then placed on top for complete restoration.
  • Traditional Removable Prosthetics: The removable prosthetics can be retained by two implants or supported by 4 or more implants and are typically a less stable.
